Huh? Whazzat?  1 wire spliced to 2 smaller wires that go to a common connection is going to keep it from quitting on my vacation versus 1 big juicy 12g wire?  How's that work?  

Or are you saying some happless PO had it quit on HIS vacation and "temporarily" fixed it with whatever wire he could find?

I still claim it's "ultra-itis" at work.  Whoever did it, did it in their driveway because that's the wire they had - instead of oh I don't know, going to the store and buying some correct size wire!!  

Not that I'm saying I haven't done such things in the past  (and probably future no doubt) but it does seem to happen in Corvair land a little more frequently than in a random sample of car types.
