I always used to add a quart of ATF when appropriate to super clean things. 
Had a valve talking to me when I bought the Monza so tried a plastic 
container of CD-2 MAXX oil detergent since I have been using CD-2 lead 
substitute in my 400s for years (noit certain if still Stewart-Warner 
Alemite since URL on container (www.cd2products.com) brings up something 
generic).

In any event, the lifter seems to be quiet now.
