Ron,

I bought a new Garmin 2720 before my recent 9500 mi western trip and it
was a godsend. All maps are loaded but it has additional space for custom
waypoints ( like all the HardRock cafes in USA) in additional to the
zillions allready preinstalled- hotels, eats, post office, parks ,
hospitals, etc etc.
The 2720 is $$ but it has text to voice and tells u to turn not just at
the next right BUT tells u to turn and then names the street. EG: turn
right on Michigan Ave. Screen is bright and is coated with an
antireflection coating. It also dims proportional to light , then reverses
at night to a black background so as to not screw up your vision field.
One of the bestfeatures is as u are approaching a decision point, it will
automatically blow up the scale so u can see the names of side roads as u
pass by and also see the loops of an intersection at a freeway. Then
rescales back to normal scale. Touch screen works easy or can use the
remote control. Comes with various mounts, but the lead shot beanbag mount
worked better than I 1st thought and we used it for the whole trip.
Bought mine at BUY.COM for wayless than Best Buy.
