I won't build a car without should belts. Period! They don't cost much money
and they do a great job, even for slow speed encounters. Your head smacking
the steering wheel or the windshield or the "padded" dash ain't a good thing.
A crumby $70 belt can be the differnce between walking away with an abrasion
on your chest and being dead. I'm a believer!!

Where am I supposed to hook the shoulder belt to in my convertible? Oh, I could put Sebring seats with integral belts in. Well, why don't I just replace the whole car with a Sebring then, if safety is so important? I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you are really, really concerned with safety, you shouldn't be driving a Corvair (or any 60's car). Modern cars have it all over our old clinkers when it comes to safety features - like it or not. Even with airbags though, people get killed in crashes. I'm not advocating total disreguard for safety but you have to be a little realistic here.
