<VV> lm power top motor

I am trying to check a late model power top motor that is out of thecar to see if it works.  there are four wires coming out of the motor:  a single black wire which should be the ground wire, a single wire with red braid covering, and a pair of wires that are one green and one yellow.  What should hook to positive and what to negative to see if the motor works both ways?
