Actually the pushrod tubes never leak on Corvairs. The problem is generally 
centered on the FACTORY pushrod tube SEALS that leak. And the generally 
accepted fix is to replace these seals with those made of Viton. This cures the oil 
leaks from these areas. So no other correction is usually required for the life 
of the engine if the seal replacement was done correctly.

Now painting the pushrod tubes white is an attempt to lower the temperature 
of the tubes, and thus the seals in an attempt to lenthen the life of the 
seals. This may help some, but may not have the effect some think because there 
have been no known tests run or data published showing an improvement in seal 
life.
