Do keep in mind that color can be a factor in radiating heat as well as in
reflecting it.  While white is better at reflecting heat, push-rod tubes
kinda define "being where the sun don't shine", so the color becomes a
question of radiating heat.  It isn't defined as "black-body radiation" in
engineering for nothing!

As for NASA, please remember that while the top is white, the BOTTOM of the
Shuttle.....the part that's exposed to all the re-entry heating......is
black to facilitate cooling!
