Last summer I removed the lower shrouds on my '66 turbovert and immediately
saw a 50-75 degree drop in the head temps for summer running.  Here in the
winter in northern California, I get enough heat from the heater to warm the
car and do defrost duties.  I was going to put them back on for the winter,
but didn't get around to it.  Now with spring around the corner, I think
I'll just leave 'em off.

is it really a good idea to run without lower shrouds?  i run with the 
flapper doors removed but wonder if i am disturbing air flow around
cylinders and 
manifolds by removing shrouds for general driving?  i do have the shields on
the
