<VV> over heating

Well, depends on how bad.
Maybe nothing.
Maybe it seizes up immediately and you're looking for a new motor.
Maybe it's a 140 and 2 years later it drops a valve seat and you wonder why.
Every time I've had reason to pull mine apart it has cost me over $1000.
You know how it goes, "Well, as long as I'm in here...."

Young and Dumb story:
My first Corvair was a '61 beater I bought in '68 as a beach car. Being a
complete idiot at the time, I didn't know why it was overheating and pumping
a quart out of the dipstick hole every 40 miles. I just stuck an arrow
shaft down the dipstick tube (looked cool) and drove it. Oddly, it died one
day on the beach. ;-) It started to squeek, so I stopped and poured 3
quarts into it while it was running. It wouldn't start for 2 hours after it
was shut down, so I didn't want to turn it off. Well, the squeeking just
got louder as I poured in the oil and it stopped, so I decided that was a
good place to surf after all. A few hours later, I started it up and got
about a mile before I was down in first gear with it floored and it would
only go about 5 MPH. Towed it home and took it apart. No rod bearings,
only some tiny slivers of metal. Mains mostly gone. Rings broken (the
source of the blowby, no doubt), cam lobes flattened, etc, etc, etc. I
suspect now that the PO had run it too far without a fanbelt and the
overheating shattered the rings. My running it out of oil didn't help much.
;-)
