<VV> Polish,Pits, and a new bumper...sort of

Nail polish applied to spots will work, but not for very long (depending on
storage, exposure, etc.). More aggressively, you can spray it with clear
lacquer or urethane, which again won't last long on a bumper that actually
bumps.
The polish ITSELF actually affords the protection you want, for a
period I'd estimate as being between one day and one week.

Subject: <VV> Polish,Pits, and a new bumper...sort of

The front bumper has been off my car since before I
got it. it was really rough...looked a lot like
aluminum does when it's corroded...it was NOT shiny
anymore.

So I was bored today and brought it inside, got out
the ol' hand-rag and some No.7 Original Formula Chrome
Polish. WOW! after about 40 mins of polishing every
bit of the actually shiny chrome (not the crud on the
inside) it looks brand new! well...almost.

I do notice that the chrome is pretty thin...been worn
down after all these years... even though like
99.9999999 percent is still there perfectly...there's
a couple little tiny chips in it, and also...if you
look real close...there's a bunch of little teeny tiny
dots on it that I fear could become pits if the bumper
is left to the elements.

So the question is this. Now that I've cleaned it up,
is there a kind of gloss clearcoat or some kind of
stuff I can put over it to stop to at least slow to
not even snails pace? I just don't want water or
something getting into those teeny tiny itsty bitsy
holes/pits to start the wonderful
rusting/bubbling/pitting process any more than it
wants to now.

Hope that made some sense. I don't have a camera here
right now to show you what exactly I mean...but it's
really not bad right now...actually in real nice
shape.

Thanks,
Ryan
