Why?? Re: <VV> convertible question

All,

The answer as to why I even have a convertable is simple. It's a long
story, but to make it as simple as possible, let me start by saying that
my first Corvair was a maroon w/black '66 Monza 4door. I bought it with
15,000 miles on it, and it was destroyed in an accident at 22,000 miles.
I then proceeded to look for what I then (and still do) consider the
ULTIMATE Corvair, a maroon w/black '67 Monza 4door with air, automatic,
and loaded. What I found instead was a '67 (yes!) Monza w/automatic
(yes!!) and air conditioning (YES!!!) convertable (DAMN!). But what
cinched me buying it, despite it's obvious handicapped body style, was
that it was maroon w/black interior, and with only 20,000 dealer's
wife's miles on it. I had to pay higher than book and had to go to
Massachucetts after it, but it's the closest thing to the ULTIMATE
Corvair I could (and have to date) find. In retrospect, I consider the
curse of it being a convertable to be merely a financial blessing in
disguise. Otherwise, YES, I STILL prefer a 4door. (BTW the convert is
now loaded with factory options and has only 33,00 well-cared-for miles
on it.)

In case some wiseguy thinks he'll offer to trade me a 4door for it, I'd
be interested, but ONLY for an equivalent car. ROTSA RUCK on that one! LOL

-Mark

P.S. I also have two other '67 Monza 4doors, one a loaded project car
from AZ, and the other a nice loaded car (with the window sticker still
in it) from Texas. CLOSE to the ULTIMATE Corvair, but still short.
hummm.... Maybe I can MAKE the project car.... :o)
