Andy,
Yes, you can regrease the rear bearings on an Early - and you should. It's much easier than on a Late. The full procedure is described in detail in the Corsa Tech Guide, but basically you pull the axle out, (can remove completely or leave it hanging on the car, way more convenient to pull it off and have it on the bench), pry off the dust shields from the back of the bearing, remove the grease seal, and clean & grease.

Subject: <VV> EM or LM wheel bearings?...

List members,

I read that the wheel bearings that are being repacked are for a LM.
Can rear wheel bearings from an EM also be taken apart and repacked?
If so, are special tools required, or can an old shade tree mechanic
do it? Are there grease seals that have to be replaced, or can the
old ones be used again?

As always, TIA.

Andy Anderson, trying to grease the wheel before the squeek.
