I don't have time to research this question accurately right now, but I 
remember that the circuit feeding the idiot light was "balanced" to reflect the 
load--if everything was ok--no battery discharge then the light would go out.  
But the reverse was also true--if more than factory charging was available the 
now unbalanced circuit (greater available charging capacity) then the light 
would also come on.  My Greenbrier has acted the same way for 14 years since the 
alternator was added.  I never got arount to doing the electrical work to add 
the appropriate resistance.  Someone who knows their circuits will be able to 
answer this with more authority.  A voltmeter or multitester can reassure you 
that the alternator/charging circuit is working correctly.

I only have one early - a truck.  I've driven a few EMs - some at night. 
Every one I've ever driven has at least a slight glow.  I just figure it is 
normal for EMs.  My tuck has a 80 or 90 amp alternator and it still has a 
slight glow.  I suppose you could fix it..... with electrical tape over the 
indicator light... <GRIN>

You COUNT your problems???
