<VV> It's the parents stupidity not the 16 year old (reality)

Hey All, This "first car" thread has no possible answer. In Atlanta last
week a
16 year old female driver who had a driver's license for THREE weeks was
driving a Cadillac Escalade SUV with herself and six other teenagers in the
SUV.
She lost control, went off the road and killed herself. A 6000 + pound
vehicle with all the
safety features available is not enough to save an inexperienced driver who
hasn't a clue
about vehicle safety. Do you think she took drivers-ed in this large suv or
in a small passenger
vehicle? How dumb was the parent's decision to let her drive this vehicle
with no parental guidance
present? Our highway carnage is like 40,000+ small sunami's every year.
Each death or maiming
radiates outward like an earthquake and effects all who knew the victim,
others injured or killed in the
accident and all their family and friends. Defensive driving is a lost
cause with most teenagers. First they
think they are invincible and then we and the vehicle manufacturers compund
the belief with air bags, side
impact rails, crumple zones, abs brakes and of course massive torque and/or
horsepower available in most
new vehicles. The best advice is to slow down and smell the roses in
whatever vehicle you drive.
