The load example is the same for a fan or pump with a rotating shaft, and a typical rear axle,. 
Inner ring : Rotating / Outer ring : Stationary / Load : Constant direction
The motion with a 1 inch diameter shaft and 0.001 inch clearance is like a 1000 - 1 gear ratio, so the race has to creep on the axle.  The clamping force would have to be enormous (like way over 15,000 pounds) to keep the race fromshifting downward under the weight of the car.
