I did this job recently, and I wasn't able to find the dimple either. I did
it well on the second side! Really! Following the instructions as much as
possible, I drilled and installed the left side switch, only to find myself on
the wrong side of a horizontal metal piece inside the door pillar. I had to
play some games to get the wire up into the underdash area. On the second side,
I knew to get above the metal divider and the wire came right into the dash
area. Other than that, it was a snap and a really nice addition to the rig. I
too use an NOS kit. Very cool.

I have just acquired a Greenbriar that needs very little to make it
roadworthy. In my parts stash, I have an NOS set of Courtesy Lights that I
wish to
install. Not so much for looks, but the overhead dome light does leave a lot
to
be desired if you're climbing inside.
The instruction sheet says there should be a "dimple" to indicate where to
drill holes for the door jamb switches. I can't find them on either side.
