I think it would be kind of cool, but then what do I know.  Although not 
Corvair powered, I have always dreamed of building a 5/8 or 3/4 scale P-38 
using a pair of SBC's.  Even though one has to deal with water cooling, it 
would seem that the SBC (aluminum block perhaps?) could make some serious 
yet reliable horsepower for aircraft use.
