Jeff,
The alternator should not draw current when it's shut off. Sounds like you
need to exchange it.  However, it might be a good idea to verify that it's
the alternator that's responsible for the drain.

I've installed a Delco SI 10 one wire alternator in my LM.
It has a current drain of the battery when off.
This is a newly rebuilt unit. Is there a brake-in period so this will not  
happen?
Or is there something wrong with it?
