Sounds like your talking about the connector to the headlights etc. in the  
trunk. If that's it, it can be a pain to remove. I'd recommend the following.  
Remove the trunk harness in the trunk (where else would it be?). Spray some  
WD-40 or other lubricant around the square plug and the rubber grommet. Place a 
 piece of wood over the plug in the trunk and tap it with a hammer. Increase 
the  force of the tap until one of two things happen, the plug come out and 
you're  done, or the plug breaks then you needed a new one anyway.
Seriously, the plug should come out with a little persuasion given enough  
lubrication.
