My '73 vintage parts book showed a plug in the center of the tee. I 
wondered what that was for. Makes sense but would need a downstream 
regulator/restriction and would still need vented carbs for belt and 
suspenders. Is that the difference between an H and an HV carb ? (vented)

Had that problem in a hot (literally) 67 Camaro, made a gas line that swung 
up and clear over to the fender well before angling back to the pump. Never 
had that problem again.
