Lola GT to be precise, Shelby had done the same with an AC Ace. Long
history of such including the Allards, Facel Vegas (have always wanted an
HK-500) & TVR Griffith but reversed in the 70s (Cosworth-Vega, Taurus SHO).

Most fascinating is the aluminum 215 cid GM V-8. Originally for 1961 BOP
small cars, Pontiac used with a modified Corvair transaxle (and rope
drive). Turboed in 1962 (215 cid, 215 hp on 5 psi boost) it later went to
Holden and in 1966 Jack Brabham won the FI world championship with one.
Then went to England where it powered the Morgan +8, Triumph TR-8, and
assorted police cars. Is alive and well in the Rover line.
