"The problem is no one will pay to ship them out. I have a nearly rust free
body almost ready to go to the crusher. Been trying to give it away for
years.
-Geoff Johnson"

Well, so if I wanted this body, do you have a way to put it on a truck for shipping? And the matching question is do I have a way to unload it when it arrives. It would be easier if the suspension was still there, but most transport companies want running cars, not just rolling cars. One can dissassemble cars and send parts in smaller boxes but car bodies that are not palletized would probably be damaged in shipping. I have had half a car (rear clip of BMW 3.0) palletized and shipped from CA to VA. There was minor shipping damage, nothing to put in a claim for. At the time I had a shop and 6 employees so unloading the pallet did not involve back injury.

Remember, everytime a rust free Corvair goes to the crusher, there goes another chance for the club to expand membership. We may see the day when there are no more Corvairs running on the streets here on the east coast (only stored in garages for fear of the salt worm), yet the west coasters buy seviceable cars just to scrap for parts because they think they are worthless. I can count on my fingers the number of daily drivers here in central VA. Back in the early 80's that number was easily 50. Would the reason nobody has expressed an interest in picking up the rust free body is that it is hard to move without wheels, and all the other Corvairs for sale in the area are also rust free and can drive home? Kind of like sending coals to Newcastle. Law of supply and demand. We need to get these cars to the land of no supply and develop a demand.

"Sure would be an easy way to get a few $$$ and pay for the trip to
Portland....

If I lived in Rustoland.......I'd sure be doing it!

Who would get the $$ and why would it be easy? Most working people do not have a week or more to drive across the country towing a trailer to pick up a good body.

Are there any retired Corvair folks that think there is money to be made in transporting west coast cars to the east coast? I think Smitty would do it, but only if he could use a Corvair as the tow vehicle!
