Polyalphaolefin basestocks plus additives. One of the synthetic 
<Display.htm>hydrocarbon liquids manufactured from the <Display.htm>monomer 
ethylene, H2C=CH2. Polyalphaolefins have a complex branched 
<Display.htm>structure with an olefin bond in the alpha position of one of 
the branches.

Note: many so-called "synthetics" are actually blends which start with a 
petroleum oil base. I am trying a Synthetic Blend from WalMart in one of my 
cars right now.
