Smitty says; Nothing wrong with painting a wheel.  They were all painted
anyway.  A friend showed me his 69 wheel which was repainted green over
red from the factory.  I have been very successful painting them.  Some
care must be taken in paint selection.  Don't use air dry enamels because
it absorbs finger oil and gets gummy.  Laquer is poor because it
scratches so easily from rings etc.  Epoxy and the new isocyenates works
very well.
