<VV> windshield trim removal

hey gang,
Alot has been said lately about removing the windshield glass, but what about 
the chrome trim??? I've triied and failed every time....I can get 1 or 2 
pieces off without damage, but always ruin 1 or 2 pieces. Is there a 
trick/procedure to this??? Also, what is the best tool to use?? I need to do some rust 
repair on my 66 Corsa around the windshield before painting.
