Probably the easiest way, other than your "calibrated" seat-of-the-pants 
would be dyno pulls AT THE WHEELS with cars of the same transmission and 
gear ratio, tire size, etc.  A lot easier than pulling engines to dyno them. 
Would one of those electronic gadgets like Ned was using be accurate enough?
