John - All the cylinder barrels we do on our Rottler are plateau honed - 
regardless of which rings are being used.  As for question #2 - Why 
would you "pay extra" for plateau honing? On our machine it's a very 
simple operation and we do not charge extra for it.  As for #3 - I would 
assume so, but obviously it would takes years of Corvair use to prove that.

The points made by Bob as to the advantages of plateau honing are quite 
correct. Quicker break-in and WAY less breaking contamination would 
obviously be signifigant advantages.  Lon
