<VV> electrical abnormality on 63

 on my 63 turbo vert, with lights on, the left turn signal switch, when activated, will not flash the left turn light, with the lights off, and the left turn switch acitvated will cause all the turnsignal lights in back to flash (including the license light), (the brake lights do not flash) 
the right turnsignal works fine under all conditions.

i am not sure where to start on this one, any suggestions?
