<VV> Fuel Sock / related problems

Matt -
Are you implying that a tank (assume not leaking) that has rusted this
much can by this message be restored to service? Do you suppose filling the
tank (after this process) COMPLETELY (more than 5 gallons) might get more
rust into the fuel from the exposed walls of the fuel tank?
I LIKE the idea of salvaging a fuel tank AND not having to remove it!
This may seem jackleg to some (and it is), but the conserving aspects of it
appeal to me strongly.
I replaced my tank and sock. Where's the sport in THAT?

When you're forced to drive a car like this........there a a few things
anyone can do.

BACKFLUSHING / POLISHING liquids

1 GET an electric fuelpump and a battery charger. Buy A LARGE
fuelfilter
/ cleanable if possible.

2 Plumb the FILTER to the fuelpump FROM the Fillerneck [ hose in tank!]
TO
the fuel outlet of the tank.

3 Fill the tank with at least 5 gal. of fuel

4 Turn on and walk away..go to sleep...

5 In the morning [8-12hrs.] the tank will be cleaned out! Not CLEANED,
but all loose particles will be removed, or filter will be clogged, in which
case you do it again. [ seldom the case] Most WATER is removed also.

NEXT:

The "Stones" and "SOCK" do a good job when everything is "normal".

But when continual Clogging of a filter happens, or constant carb
contamination occurs;

BUY A BIGGER FILTER!!!

You can mount this temporarily on top of the differential, replacing the
short connector hose.

These filters are only $7 at FLAPS........cheaper than a tow bill / or an
hour beside the road!
