Many thanks to all who responded about my gas problem and for your patience and humor with regard to my ignorance.  With the ratio of 4-1 (male to female) in my house, I don't need my car having gas also!

It is apparently nothing scary.  We will look into your suggestions next weekend.  Hopefully, it will resolve as easily as you indicated.
