Actually up until 1961[?]  they didn't.....the engine, 30hp or less  was 
always under low vacume conditions...

In 61  with 40hp  they added it...later even using VA  ONLY  distributors...

You only see this junk on restored cars....EVERYONE wentr to  Bosch 009 /010  
dist.

JC Whitney used to sell them for $4.95 [ 1956-60  Type II [ bus ]  engines...
