Entitlements, yes, it did play a rather large role.

By God, this is amazing!!!!!!!  You all have to go to the link and read 
about how Nader caused the collapse of American freedom by "forcing" GM to 
"kill" the Corvair!!!!

I had no idea that we are so oppressed and our little cars had such a 
prominent place in the history of western civiliztion.
