i have a lifter here from an engine that got improper valve adjustment..the 
pushrod must have rode on the edge for a short time then broke  a chunk out of 
the side of it. the pushrod did not bend!  what a racket it made! a friend 
just did this trying to repair an oil leak and replace rings..thats another 
story, total seal rings about 30k miles on them started using oil. the new cheapies 
are running fine now,
