Hi Padgett,
It definitely sounds like a carburetor problem. Have you tried resetting the 
mixture screws or idle speed adjustments? How about speeding up the idle speed 
a little? You might start there. Have you tried putting your hand over the 
airhorns to see if it speeds up the engine? Otherwise maybe it's a plugged idle 
circuit in one of the carbs.
