Ooops!! Wrong needle bearings. Use grease, slip on carefully, make SURE it
doesn't slide off!!

Yep, one of two ways:

1. Make a wooden dowel a little smaller than the OD of the countershaft,
and
EXACTLY as long as the cluster gear. Stick the needles in with grease, drop
it in the case. As you push the countershaft in from the rear of the case,
the
dowel comes out of the front.

2. Stick the needles in with the heaviest grease you have. Also, stick the
think steel washers in the end, and stick the thrust washers into the case
using said grease. Insert cluster carefully. Once it's lined up with the
holes,
(I suggest doing this with the case sitting on its front), carefully slide
the
countershaft in.

I have used method #2 many times, and have never dislodged the needles.
With
the correct number of needles in place, and the thin steel washer in place,
they are actually stay in place fairly well.

Probably in the middle of trying to get the needle bearings to stay on the
trans main shaft while he slips on the clutch/input gear.....
