While I've got an insurance professional on-line, I have a question: If my
''Vair is involved in an accident, and I am awarded compensation, does that
mean that the insurance company can confiscate my ''Vair and send it to the
crusher, or can it be salvaged somehow?

While I'm not an insurance professional, I do have some recent experience
with a compressive claim on my Corvair. I hit Bambi on the way to Lexington
last year. The passenger side front fender and hood took most of the damage.

Anyhow, the car was totaled. I told the adjuster up front that I wanted to
buy the car back if it was totaled. No problem, the car and the title stayed in
my possession. They just took the salvage cost out of the settlement money.
If you surf around the site you get the whole car story. All in all I was
very pleased with my insurance company.
