I used to unzip mine on my '66 until somebody asked me why I did it and I 
didn't have a good answer. Just make sure you don't fold the window when it 
is dirty and some put a towel in between the window halves, but I don't see 
a real benefit in that. A good reason to not unzip is when a quick storm 
blows up, all you have to do is pull the top up and latch it without 
standing on your knees in the back seat, cussing that damn zipper with the 
rain blowing in your face :o).

Just a quick question to you long time experienced Vair drop-top 
owners....Will it damage the rear window to fold down the top without 
unzipping the rear window and folding it down into the well, first?

I have always done it this way, but if it isn't really necessary, I'd just 
as soon not.  But seeing how much the replacements cost, I don't want to 
chance messing up the one I have.
