The Atom car will likely not be imported into the US. However, it is very  
likely to be produced in the US. A company in Ashland, OR is set to produce the  
cars. They are working with General Motors to try and use the new Cobalt  SS 
powerplant (The Ecotec 4-cyl motor, with a factory Supercharger) and  5-speed, 
in place of the Honda type-R motor. Honda seemed to be less than  responsive 
about supplying powertrains. They have an Atom with the GM powertrain  
installed as a prototype. I talked with one of the company principles this  
afternoon. They are taking deposits toward delivery in about 4-6 months. Cars  built in 
the US will be left-hand drive. Most folks are using them for track  days, 
but it would be a neat trick to get it "street legal" as a kit car. Then  you go 
out hunting for repliCobras and Z06 Corvettes! "So, bubba, you wanna to  race 
with me? - This thing has a Hemi - kind of!" - One of the prototypes may be  
at SEMA in Las Vegas. Look for a full report after that
