I've said all I intend to on the subject. Most everyone is missing the
point... concentrating on the fact that cars improved instead of seeing
at what cost. Bottom line is that the public likes being taken care of
and Nader (and the socialists) have already won. Many of us see our
individual freedoms slipping away daily "for the good of society"...
it's only a matter of time before it will get bad enough that the
general public notices... and by then it will already be far too late.

Very true, Bill. Just look at how the government has kept the price of
Gasoline so high while supposedly giving us clean air.

HIGH GAS PRICES
Well, let's start with the US government that requires 30+ different blends
of gasoline to be available in different districts in the US. Shortages in
one district can NOT be filled with surpluses in another district. And now
the US has mandated that MTBE be discontinued which has caused the shortage
of replacement ethanol. That's why the gas price just jumped some $.25 per
gal.
Then there is the holdup in the Government in allowing drilling in ANWAR and
off shore locations to get the oil we have. The government wants high gas
prices!!!! There is talk of and added gas tax to help reduce consumption.
OH, by the way according to what I have been reading, ethanol consumes more
energy to produce, than it produces. Plus no new refineries have been built
for some 30 years. This isn’t for lack of trying by the oil companies, but
government restrictions and roadblocks.
