  Hi:

  For all the kind techie folks who suggested the SMTT (shop manuals thumb technique) for 
  checking the tension in the Corvair belt, I'd like to add that the next Communiqué 
  "might" publish the Avg. pressure exerted by the MCOT --- Exciting !  no?

  As those of you with 2 digit or higher IQ have guessed, the pressure of MCOT cannot 
  possibly be the same. That's the primary reason your belts coma loosaa !

  Well ! a few Vair owners can crush a silver dollar with their thumb -- these fellows 
  should refrain from using the SMTT !

  Insofar as FVO (female vair owners), the shop manual inadvertently fails to address 
  your thumbs. Back then, GM was not doing any research on these fancy maintenance 
  methods. But, that's changed nowadays - the '07 Jeep manual attests to that:
