All this talk about household items, I take it for granted that everyone
knows that you don't ever dispose of the dessicant bags.

If they seem to have done all they can do, just toss them in the microwave
for 45 seconds or a minute. This removes the moisture that they have
accumulated and renders them capable of additional moisture absorption.
Those who work around stationary hydraulic systems probably know this
already because they use dessicant beds on the sump vents to prevent
moisture from entering the hydraulic system. If you forget to nuke them,
you're in for a lot of expensive repairs.
