Good troubleshooting technique is to move BACK one step at a time.....most 
likely the resistor is the wrong resistance..

Petronixs are Electronic....16 deg. is normal and why many moved to the PII   
or  go back to points!   Not adjustable..unless you build an electronic 
adjuster!

Go to Petronix website and download the instructions....

Sorry to hear your still not running well.....it's always something simple to 
fix..just difficult to find...
