<VV> Dexron in brake system ??

My initial thought is:

If using a simple cheap fluid would work fine then the car manufacturers 
would have done this from the beginning. So something in brake operation 
is out of specification with petrol based fluids. Seal incompatability? 
High temperature? Experts will weigh in now!
