The hose on the front side of the top shroud (turkey roaster) doesn't go to  
the vent behind the rear window. This hose goes to the heater box. You really 
do  need this hose or block off the outlet on the shroud. This hose taps into 
the  cool air on the top of the engine. If the hose is missing , the air just 
blows  out, instead of over the engine. As you can imagine, this is not a good 
thing  for an air cooled engine.
