Russ,

It must depend on what size and package truck you buy whether it has drum brakes. I have a `05 2500HD 4WD crew
cab with the duramax and allison in the mid trim level. It was delivered on April 13 (2 months to build and
deliver) and has 4 wheel disk brakes. The question I couldn't get answered was what the manual transmission
was like. My old truck (`93 with 190K) has the 5sp with granny and OD which I really like and I wanted to know
if the current transmission was anything like it. I thought the light was missing because I wasn't getting the
top trim level because I didn't want leather buckets in my truck.

When I bought my `93 I took my exact list of options which I wanted (expecting to order) to 3-4 dealers and
asked for their BEST price to order my truck. After I picked the dealer with the best price and placed my
order (I only gave the list to dealers I thought I could do business with) I told the others I would not be
buying from them. The next day I got a call from one of the salesmen which was turned down who said the son of
the owner had authorized him to come down to $200 below the price they had quoted me ($75 less than I ordered
for). They tried to get me to cancel my order at the other dealer. I made a special visit to the dealer to
give management a piece of my mind over their tactics and let them know I wouldn't be doing business with them
then or in the future. This time I had supplier pricing (before the employee pricing for everyone) and found I
couldn't get a better deal on an ordered truck by shopping around so I went back to the salesman I bought my
last one from (12 years ago) and put in my order.
