<VV> Oil pump gasket leak - 63 Spyder

The seal on my oil pump is leaking. In order to replace the seal and stop 
the leak I must remove the rear skid plate. Can I lower the engine without 
removing it completely? Can anyone describe the technique for this 
service? Thanks
