The biggest reason I do NOT subscribe to the rationale of telling 
posters to arbitrarily consult the tech guide is that  when a 
question is posed on a public forum, it garners multiple (hopefully) 
responses, some of which just MIGHT include additional information 
that some of the rest of us may not be aware of, or include tips NOT 
in the tech guide or other written/printed resources.

Like the old cliche goes, there are no stupid questions.

I do not run this list.   But if anybody has a question and wants to 
post it regardless of where the answer might otherwise be, they 
should feel free to post it, IMHO, and not feel they're gonna "incite 
unrest" while doing so.   That's not the way to make a new list 
member feel welcome.
