Hi Shaun,

On the coil, no, they used the coil for '64 for all Vairs.

On the wires, there are codes on Packard wires that are dated by quarter of
the year. Reproduction Packard wires come that way as well. What you are
reading states that the wires were made in the 4th quarter of 1963. BUT, it
doesn't always follow that the date of wire manufacture will be close to
the build date of the engine. There are exceptions and are more to the
human side of things than anything else. There were wires that were made a
quarter earlier that could be on a later engine (these are shipping and/or
factory line use anomolies that came up regularly).

What is the date on your engine block?

Best Regards,

Rich

1) Did turbo cars have a different (hotter) coil?

2) I've got a set of original plug wires off of a low-mile CDN '64. It's a
full set including the coil wire and they're all date coded 4-Q-63. Usually
with other ancillaries, the letter corresponds to the month of production,
minus I , so M should be the 12th month. What does that make Q?

yea, Vairily ... Shaun
