Unlikely..but possible, tight valves.....a Vair will idle smooth at 500rpm on 
2 cylinders, while the other 4 have tight valves...

Swap the primary carbs from side to side....block off the secondaries as well 
if swapping the pri. carbs does cause the problem to switch sides..
