Hey all!

I've been off the list for a couple of years... it's good to be back.

I have a mystery I need to solve, and I need help from all you
knowledgeable folk. I have listed on eBay the wood steering wheel that
I took out of my '63 Spyder. Deep in the back of my mind, when I listed
this thing, I recalled that the wood wheel was first introduced in
'64. So AFTER the fact (duh) I decided I better find out for sure if
this was indeed the coveted '64 Wood Wheel.

I originally took this wheel out of a '64 Spyder Convertible. I am
fairly certain that this '64 Spyder was indeed a '64, & not a '63,
because I checked the vin tags carefully, and there was no evidence that
they had been tampered with. The wheel fit perfectly well in my '63
Spyder, and all was well. Until one day recently when I decided to sell
the '63 Spyder and keep the wood wheel (for my next spyder, of course).
Well, when I took a regular steering wheel out of a '64 parts car, I
discovered, much to my chagrin, that the original '64 steering wheel
would not fit in the '63 -- The steering column shafts were different
sizes!

So then I deduced that since this wheel had come out of a '64 Spyder,
that perhaps the Spyders had recieved a bigger steering column shaft. I
have been told that this is not the case. So apparently, either A) the
"64" Spyder that this wheel came out of was NOT actually a '64, or, B)
someone went through a lot of trouble to swap a complete steering
column/steering box into a '64 Spyder.

Even though that's a mystery in itself, I'm not interested in solving
it. What I DO want to know is, WHAT is this wheel for? Could it be for
one of the other GM makes, such as the Corvette, Impala, or Chevelle?
The shaft diameter it fits is approximately 3/4 inch, and the part # on
the hub is: *3845286

If anyone has some concrete knowledge on this subject and/or has a
Hollander Interchange manual or some other way to look up this part
number to tell me the correct application, I would greatly appreciate
it. My auction ends at 6:00pm, Central time today (Friday)

Thank you in advance!

Blaine Sanders
